Hi,

I am running the Dell DSET 3.7 on my Dell T5810 installed with Win 7 Prof 32bit OS, I selected Create a report without Installing DSET on my system, it ran the stuff when i hit "Start" it opened the cmd prompt and closed without saying anything and the UI was showing completed successfully. It didn't created any report on desktop:(.

The next time I changed my installation method, i selected to install DSET and generate the report, it installed completely and started opening the cmd prompt. this time it terminated with some message on cmd prompt "unable to gather chassis or storage data. Make sure that user name, password, namespace, and port number are correct, and then retry."

I am not sure what this says as i have login to the system with Admin account. did any faces such issues?

If i run the same DSET on 3.7 on Win 7 x64bit OS it runs perfectly.

Hi

when I try to upgrade to Windows 10 I get a message gelling me

NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce430

The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10.  Check with you manufacturer for support.

I have an AMD Athlon (tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor

and a

Dell E228WFP flat panel monitor

Bought both from DELL in 2007 so know these are probably antiques but is there something I can do with what I've got to enable me to install Windows10?

Greetings all,

I have Dell XPS 625 with 3GB RAM, 2GB in one slot and 1GB in another. How do I find out how far I can upgrade my memory? How high can each slot go? Without opening the box, how do I find out how many more slots I have?

Thank you.

Hello guys, I have some strange, distasteful sounds(like from old HDD) from my motherboard. When i bought my laptop, i waqs thinking that this sounds are from native hdd or fans, but before christmas i replaced hdd to new ssd and sound  hasn't disappeared. I noticed that this sound is only when CPU isn't working hard. So do you have any ideas how to fix it?

Windows 10?

After compatibility assurances from MS, I went ahead and upgraded from 7 to 10 a few weeks ago. At first, all okay but then funny things started happening like freeze-ups and shutdowns soon followed by an array of BSODs like memory_management, unexpected_kernel_move_trap and bad_pool_caller.

I've tried a host of tests suggested from MS Community with nothing really wrong found. I ran Dell Diagnostics yesterday and after an hour, all systems tested okay.

My PC is a Dell XPS 8300 bought new in Jan 2012. Intel Core I-7, NVidia GeForce GT545, with 16gb ram. I recently found out that Dell doesn't like Win 10 on my expensive, 4 year old computer so the question is, should I revert to Win 7 and risk that action? I've read some horror stories from those that did try to rollback the OS.

4600 Goes To Black Screen After Attempt To Upgrade To Win8 Pro

My old Dimension 4600 (which I use as a server) has always worked well (albeit slowly). I have a copy of Win 8 Pro, so I thought I would upgrade the ol' XP machine. Big mistake. I didn't do any prep work (upgrade the drivers, etc.), and it started the upgrade process just fine. After it said that I needed to free up more space for the upgrade, when the screen just went black. Now, when I touch the power button, the power fully cycles. It goes off immediately, then turns right back on. It will not enter safe mode, nor can I go into the recovery console. Only F2, and F12 do anything. F8 does nothing. The PC has 2 CD drives, but neither will open. I use a USB CD/DVD drive instead. It was my dad's PC way back when. It came with XP preloaded, and I have the product key. I DO NOT have an install disk, but I do have some of the other disks that came with the PC when new. Having it run XP is just fine with me. Especially if new hardware is required to make W8 work. I have other PCs where the OS is important, but not this. I'd just like to get this PC back in service. I don't have a copy of W7, either. My XPS 410 came preloaded, too.

XPS 2710 screen diagnostic run through and what do 4 beeps mean?

I've done my share of blowing up all the XPS 2710 threads with my dissatisfaction on my situation, but I have a few technical questions.

In hoping that one day it just starts working again every so often I turn it back on.  Sometimes I get four beeps.  I've had the two beeps many times when I unseat the RAM and turn it on, but never four beeps. What are 4 beeps?

One of the troubleshooting suggestions was to hold down the power button for 15 or 20 seconds.  Now when the system turns on instead of getting stuck at the Dell logo it seems a screen diagnostic is being run.  It cycles through red, blue, green, and other still shots consistently.  I notice when the screen diagnostic is running I can hit the Caps lock button on the keyboard and it recognizes it.

I haven't had any keyboard commands recognized since my issue started with the system being stuck on the Dell logo.  It's a little promising to me to at least have the Caps lock activating.

I've reset the bios jumpers and so on.  What triggered my system to go into the screen diagnostic mode and are there any other tricks to run diagnostics outside of going into the bios?

hi,

I've been able to log into Windows but everything is extremely slow.

Safe mode does not help.

I tried a to format to factory settings but got stuck at 1%.

I got error 0x4001001300001002.

I then hit F12 at startup and ran a diagnostics (pre boot system assesment build).

I got this message after a few minutes :

error code 0142

msg: error code 2000-0142

msg: hard drive 0 - self test unsuccessful. Status : 49

The given error code and message can be used by dell Technical Support to help diagnose the problem.

I then ran an additionnal diagnotics express test - Service tag 3ZWLML1

I got these messages :

error code 0F00: 133E.

msg: DISK - HDD error, backup date immediately.

The given error and message can be used by Technical Support to help diagnose the problem.

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the hard drive based on what I've been reading.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue with my computer is ?

I have Dell XPS 720.

Missing drivers

Hello. I have a wee problem. I have replaced a hard drive after the last one corrupted, reinstalled windows everything seems fine bar I am missing drivers for the ethernet controller, network controller, PCI simple communicator and SM Bus controller. These show up on device manager with a yellow exclamation mark.

I have an XPS 8500, windows 7 home premium with SP1

Intel i7-3770 CPU

8GM RAM

64-bit operating system

I tried to download drivers from the Intel website but they didn't install.

Can someone guide me through installing these drivers please ? What order I should install them, where best to get them, etc. I have already done a search for the drivers on the harddrive and on the pen drive I used to install windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Issues with Inspiron 2350

Hi all,

I'm having some issues with the all-in-one Inspiron 2350.

The computer is really slow.  We updated to Windows 10 and that never resolved the issue.  I took a look at the task manager and the disk usage is almost always at 100% even though there's only a couple of processes using a small amount of usage.  Also the Intel Smart Storage tool is saying there's an issue with the HDD.

I run some Dell diagnostics and nothing is found so I called their support who insist that there is nothing wrong with the HDD and it's because the system is on Windows 10 and I should revert back to 8.1.

I think this is a load or rubbish, but I'm trying to do this just to jump through their hoops.  So any time I try to do a factory reset I get a BSOD saying WDF_Violation.  So I used the Dell backup and recovery manager to create a USB to boot from and try.  When the USB loads I get the same BSOD.

I just tried calling their support again but gave up after 20 minutes of waiting to get through.  Can anybody offer any advice?

Thanks

Dell Backup and Recovery on a Dell Precision Tower 5810 running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

I have a Dell Precision Tower 5810 running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.

I just recently updated Dell Backup and Recovery to the Version 1.9.2.8

Is that the correct Version of Dell Backup and Recovery to be running on this System?

I am doing System Images of my System using 3 different methods: recimg, File History, and Macrium Reflect Free.

Since I do not use Dell Backup and Recovery to do any backups, is there any reason why I cannot just uninstall Dell Backup and Recovery?

If I ever had to restore my System to its factory state, would I need Dell Backup and Recovery to do that or could I do that without Dell Backup and Recovery?

Just how would I get to the factory partition on my System?  Please provide links to more details.

2 Drives Created by Macrium Reflect Free on my System

Created my 1st System Images using Macrium Reflect Free on 1-10-16.

Everything went well, but I do have Questions about the 2 Drives that Macrium Reflect Free created on my system - See the screenshot below.

However, neither Drive shows up under Disk Management - See Screenshot below with 1 of the WD My Book 4 TB Ext HD connected.

As you can see, neither of those drives shows up in Disk Management.
They only show up under My PC

QUESTIONS:

Isn't the PBR Image (X) the duplicate of the 7.79 Healthy (Recovery Partition) shown on the Drive 0 in Disk Management?

And, isn't the WINRETOOLS (Y) the duplicate of the 750 MB Healthy (Recovery Partition) shown on the Drive 0 in Disk Management?

If they are, why are they again shown as 2 Additional Drives/Partitions under My PC?

I then updated Dell Backup and Recovery to Version 1.9.2.8 and the 2 Drives miraculously went away.

BUT yesterday (1-21-16) I did 2 more System Image using Macrium Reflect Free & the 2 extra drives showed up again.

The 1st System Image & Verification went flawlessly (well, except for those pesky 2 extra drives showing up again).

But, when I did the 2nd System Image on a different External Hard Drive:
The System Image completed
But, the Verification stalled at appox 55% & gave me a 513 Error (See Screenshot below).
I redid that Image & Verification & got the same results.

So, I redid the System Image & Verification a 3rd time - but this time I left out the PBR Image (X) and the WINRETOOLS (Y)

This time, the System Image & Verification went flawlessly.

What is going on  ? ? ?

I am having issue with my x51. Normally when I turn it on I get a beep that lets me know everything is ok and loading properly. However now I am no longer able to start my system at all. There is no beep, and after 3-5 minutes it shuts off and turns on followed by a continuous beep. I have been told that this may be my motherboard causing this issue. Someone please help.

Matrix Storage Manager XPS 420

Hello –

One of two drives have failed in XPS 420. Am replacing both with identical to original size 750 GB. However, when new disk is physically added, Matrix Storage Manager option ROM v7.6.1.1001 replies when option 1 “Create volume” is selected: “[Error] Not enough available space to create volume”. This, regardless of physical installation. It appears this version was problematic, but can’t seem to find recommended method or release(s) by which to safely update. In other words, is it safe to move directly to 9.6.0.1014 from v7.x or better in a single move, or step to intermediate releases, and which is release is recommended?

Many thanks, Johnyik

c521 maximum upgrade success - RAM, CPU overclock, GPU, card reader

$

As a system builder I took on as a personal challenge to see what I could get working in the Small form factor C521.

Summary: As of January 2016 -  So far I have a new 5600+ Athlon cpu overclocked with clock gen to 3.0ghz; a low profile NVidia 750 ti GPU running hdmi to display, and 10gb [yes 10gb RAM is possible, likely 16gb is too] by going to 64 bit Windows 10 pro on a SSD. I have the original DVD player and added a multi card reader for SD chips [if i hadn't put in an ssd I would use a 16 or 32gb sdhc class 10 card to leverage ready boost on a 7200 rpm hdd]. I have not upgraded the original psu but there are ones out there to get you to 400w, maybe even 450 gold. even with the upgrade the old psu works-Primarily due to the power sipping GPU  tdp rating. lastly, I installed a 3 antenna pci port, wlan card to get 480mps for the wireless. I use a USB Bluetooth dongle and a usb hub on the front for accessory charging.

some would just say buy a new pc but my cost so far have been reasonable. RAM $24, GPU $100, 5600+ CPU $25, card reader $14. a PSU would run about $60-90 so we are talking about $160 to $250 in parts. The OS product key for windows 8 pro was $70. For now I have about $250 in it and have a very quick, updated HTPC that sits by my big screen and can stream anything at 1080p and play steam games fine.

yet to come - a psu upgrade to SilverStone Technology 450W SFX Form Factor 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Power Supply with +12V single rail, Active PFC (ST45SF-G). It is small enough to fit and and allow sata connections from dvd but I am not sure about the back mounting holes. there is a company that makes a plate with a 400w psu for $60 as an alternate solution. I am considering eliminating the dvd and just use an USB one when needed. This would free one of the precious 2 SATA connectors on the mobo to run another larger HDD that could store movies, games, pics and music. I considered adding a case fan but it would have to be a 80mm one attacked to back grate but i think it would do little good in lowering temps. it still has the original CPU cooler so changing it to a better low profile one could eliminate the CPU black shroud and allow me to use the 92mm fan that is there to change to a better and more quiet one for case ventilation. I have a copper fin southbridge chip heat dissipater that would fit but so far the temp don't call for it.

OS: i went from XP Pro 32 bit sp3 to win 8 pro [clean install], then to 8.1 free through a MS store update, and then to win 10 pro free using the free upgrade option. I wrote down the product key using magicjellybean and then did a clean install of win 10 pro from the 'create media option' that allows you to burn a full OS iso that I burned to a dvd.  Now i have a clean win 10 pro 64 bit os.

Trickiest was the RAM, i found off ebay 16gb of pc2-4200 [4x4gb] ddr2 ram for $25 so I gave it a try. all 4 installed wouldn't post so after trying a few combos i installed as you see in speccy report. I know this is choking my frequency of the 1gb cards in the other 2 slots but it give me a stable total of 10gb. Getting  it stable with all 4x4gb installed I think is possible with a OS reset using win 10. I know the 64bit OS will take 16gb. All specs say 4gb is the max but they are old and wrong. The right RAM is 16GB KIT (4 x 4GB) Intel Motherboard DG43GT DG45ID. DIMM DDR2 NON-ECC PC2-6400 800MHz RAM Memory. Genuine A-Tech Brand, but they are all over $300 since they are server RAM so ultimately it's not cost effective. there is also something special about the AMD chip and the memory. i got this http://www.ebay.com/itm/351397763184?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT  and the high density matters.

If there is interest, I can elaborate on part upgrades further as responses dictate. cheers

Replace power button soldered to mobo on Dell Inspiron One 2305

I have this Dell Inspiron One 2305 that I just got, love these systems.

It was left in the snow, I managed to fully get all the water cleaned out and dried up before turning in on. Problem was, my cats... One of them knocked it over in the night and busted a corner of it. Power button got damaged. Power button on this is kinda like a laptops.

The button itself has a little black plastic ring around the center, which is stationary. The black plastic ring pushes in, it is mostly broken off now on mine. Only about 1/4 of it remains, if I push it in, it gets stuck and I have to pull it back out manually (which is very difficult and I'm afraid to break it completely) or the system just shuts back off after a few seconds. Obviously I can't do this while the board is in the machine, hence I need a new power button.

Will attempt to link 3 pictures for necessary clarity.

The button is wrecked, I'd like to find another one, (preferably not by paying for an entire parts board just to get a button off it.) Ideally I'd like to find just the button somewhere, Digikey, Mouser, somewhere, and just get the button so I can solder this broken one off & solder in the good one, but I can't find this button and I have no idea where to look or what I'm even looking for, knowing what it looks like doesn't really help much unfortunately without knowing how to actually find it somewhere.

Anyone who actually knows where I can find one, you, ***, rule. I'd really rather not spend 40 bucks for a junk board just to try and harvest the button... :/

Precision T 5810 - number of supported HDD - when two optical bays in use - and a Pcle SSD boot drive - online configurator issue

$

Hi, I am considering to buy a T5810 with slimline DVD/RW + Blu ray in 5.25 bay + Pcle SSD boot Drive + 2 x 3.5 inch HDD. Based on the physical slots this should be possible.

However, online configurator says that a 3th HDD is not possible when you have a DVD/RW + Blu ray.

I think this is wrong when you have a pCle SSD as a boot drive. or am I missing something

Any hints on this, also from Dell support , would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Inspiron 530 Power Supply or Other problem

$

I have an Inspiron 530. When I turned it on ir beeps 4 times and the screen display shows "WARNING MESSAGE Entering Power Save Mode" and on the top right of screen there is a DELL S170SW notation. The fan was running but the computer would not start.

I tried unplugging from the power strip directly into the wall outlet with no luck. I found a suggestion to unplug everything in back, hold the power button for 10 seconds, plug things back in and turn it on,  When I did that, the computer did start up BUT the fan stopped working.  Is there a short in the wiring or some other problem?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
