Precision T7600 Thermistor

I am having a heck of a time finding any information on this.  I have a Dell T7600 Workstation.  Here's what I am experiencing:

When powering on the machine, all fans spin up to full speed and will not slow down.  It is quite loud. I ran the onboard Dell diagnostics and I quickly determined the "ambient thermistor" was not operating correctly.  Even immediately a fresh boot and sitting for days without power it reports the the ambient tempature to be 127 degrees C.

Dell diagnostics reports this error code: 2000-0314, Validation 75225 and 107812.

The only thing I've found online was was to clear the CMOS which I tried without success. The machine has the latest BIOS firmware revision installed. This makes me believe the ambient thermistor is non-functional/defective.

As a work around I can change the fan speeds in the BIOS.  However, I feel this is an unacceptable long term solution.

Can someone please tell me where to find this sensor and how to correct the problem?

Dell Inspiron 620

I have a Dell Inspiron 620 that runs Windows 7. It recently started saying it could not detect a hard drive and that all of the Sata ports are not installed. I ran the diagnostics on it and it came up with a Fail PSA Error 2000:0141. I assumed it was the hard drive failing but I noticed in the bios that it was not detecting the CD drive. I moved the Sata cables around on the motherboard and I am still getting the black screen that says HDD not found and that there is no SATA 0-4 installed. I had an old computer that ran an 80 GB HDD and I knew it worked because I was cleaning information off of it and I put it in the Inspiron 620 and it is giving me the same error. I think the SATA ports on the motherboard have quit working.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Studio XPS 8100 running Win 10 and now want to add SSD as main drive but keep HDD for storage?

I have had my XPS 8100 since 2010 and have updated the gpu twice (now its aEvga FTW gtx960), psu (Thermaltake 600w), and did the free Win 10 upgrade. This has been a great desktop for me even though I would do a seperate component build if I had it to do over again knowing what I know now cause I am limited to sata 2 and legacy bios. Anyway I finally got a SSD bought a PNY 240GB and I have a few bugs with the Win 10 previews so its time for a clean install anyway. I just have a couple questions about the SSD install. What sata port should I move the old HDD to should I move the cd/dvd drive to port 3 or just use port 3 for old HDD? Also i want to keep all the media and some program/game data if possible so can i just delete Windows folder,  program files, and etc? What do you recommend? Finally is there any settings or special drivers I'll need to get the most out of the new SSD? Any advice would be great! It came with a single WD Black Cav 7200rpm 1tb but bios is set for RAID not ATA should I leave that alone or change to ATA? Like I said first SSD install so just point me in the correct direction. I plugged it into the sata 3 port just to make sure it would show up and it did as unallocated drive 1 so I think I can just swap it to port 1 and boot from usb to install right? Thanks for any help or advice!

Vostro 3250 - 4GB RAM installed 2.09GB Usable problem!

We have had delivery of 135 Vostro 3250s.  When I checked the RAM it says 4GB RAM installed 2.09GB Usable.   Resource Monitor reports Memory 1953MB Hardware Reserved.  This happens on them all.

Is there anyway to reduce this as it seems excessive.

I have upgraded the BIOS to v3.2.3 and we are running Windows 7 32bit, the installed RAM is on a single stick.

Any advice is most welcome.

I wanted to get better GPU but the current PSU in OptiPlex 9020 USFF has power of 290 watt. So I had to change my PSU too. Due to Dell proprietary my motherboard has only 8 pins slot. If I buy new PSU with 24 pins will this adapter work safely?

Dear all

The fan on my old Dimension E becomes so noisy, so I bought one with model no. AFC1212DE-4K33 last week. But, it seems not to run on my Dimension. Could anyone tell me if the model works with Dell Dimension or not?

Thanks,

T3400 dead no setup no post just F2 F12

Having been away for 3 weeks the t3400 hasn't had any power for that time

On returning powered it up, and after the initial bios startup message (inc the F2 setup / F12 boot menu options) it just stops with a blinking cursor top left of screen.

No POST beeps

Choosing F2 (or F12 ) just results in the same cursor top left.

I'll change the MB battery tomorrow, but I doubt that's the problem.  I just can't think why it happened while powered down?

Thanks for any suggestions

Optiplex 9020 Video Issues (Head Bump)

Hey Guys,

I need a little assistance. We currently have some 9020 machines where I work they are running Windows 10 with the 8570 AMD Graphics card. These cards run dual displays one display port, the other HDMI.

The issue we are having is users will be working and suddenly the display will crash and one monitor will work and the other will not. We have tried replacing, motherboards, drivers, keyboard, mouse, reimaging the machine, even going back to an older driver.

We have unplugged all printers and web cams from the system, replaced the graphics card and memory and yet still this machine gets an out of memory error each time almost within 2 hours of me giving the machine back to the user. We have tried to reproduce the error ourselves and cannot. We have run burn in software and youtube in multiple windows and still cannot recreate this issue ourselves . Yet, within hours of giving the machine back to the user she gets out of memory errors with nothing but IE and Outlook running.

The dump file when it is created, jump back and fourth from saying it's the Kernel and the AMD drivers.

Any ideas?

Thanks

T7910 and Intel DC P3700 (400 GB) and Intel 750 Series (1.2 TB) SSD's

I have this combination and ran Iometer (Win 10) to compare to published data from Dell. Here are the results:

+ 128k Seq Write QD32/1W Dell - 1080 MB/s - I obtained 1077 MB/s (750 Series obtained 1236 MB/s);
+ 128k Seq Read QD32/1W Dell - 2700 MB/s - I obtained 2798 MB/s (750 Series obtained 2723 MB/s);
+ 4k Random Write QD32/4W Dell - 230,000 IOPs - I obtained 243,000 IOPs (750 Series obtained 251,000 IOPs);
+ 4k Random Read QD32/4W 450,000 IOPs - I obtained 357,000 IOPs (750 Series obtained 377,000 IOPs)

All good except for 4K random reads for both SSD's - a significant difference. Has anyone else experienced this?

UEFI enabled, no UEFI boot options showing on Precision T3610

We have 2 Precision T3610 computers and want to do a fresh install of Windows 10 in UEFI mode.  One computer worked using a Win10 FAT32 (UEFI-compatible) USB key and is successfully running Windows 10 booting in UEFI.  The other doesn't show any UEFI boot options with the same USB key installed, same BIOS, same options set.

Tried front and rear USB 2.0 slots, tried 3 different FAT32 Windows 10 installation keys.  Current BIOS A14 on both computers.  Tried downgrading BIOS to A13, still no options (only Legacy boot options show up even when in UEFI mode).  Cleared CMOS with jumper, still no options.  Upgraded BIOS back to A14, still no options.

Any ideas?

T7400 SATA vs SAS

$

I turned OFF the SAS controller in the BIOS. Then I turned on SATA ports "1" and "2" ("0" was already on for the DVD drive). I then had no trouble installing Windows 7 on SATA drive 1. SATA drive 2 shows up as expected.

- Now that the SAS controller has been turned off in the BIOS, does that mean that none of the four SATA ports are active at all? (I think so but I'm not positive)

- If I turn on the SAS controller in the BIOS, does that mean the other two SATA ports (where my hard drives are now connected) will be disabled? (I hope not because it would be nice to have more SATA ports)

- If I can leave the SAS controller ON and still have the motherboard's other two SATA ports active, can I have the SAS controller set for JBOD? I'd like to have drives that will still operate should I need to remove them from this computer.

- Finally, is it okay to upgrade to Windows 10 on this machine? (I have it running on my other PCs and am very happy with it.)

Thanks very much for any answers!

(Redirected) Graphics card/driver?

Hi. I have an Alienware X51 R2 that I have recently taken apart to install a graphics card or driver. The one I purchased was a Radeon R9 graphics card, but when I went to install it, it did not fit into the system. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do or what I need in order to get the system up and working. If anyone could give me some advice as to what I need to do or buy that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Dell OptiPlex GX260 maximum RAM

$

Hello people!

I have a Dell OptiPlex GX260 desktop with service tag number<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>. It is a refurbished PC which my sister bought from our office many years ago. Just want to ask what is the maximum RAM that it can be upgraded to? When I was browsing its manual years ago, if I'm not mistaken, I've read that its maximum RAM is 2 GB. But I'm not sure if my recollection is right. I'm planning to upgrade its RAM and I want a little higher than 2 GB. For example, if I upgraded its RAM higher than 2 GB (if its the correct maximum RAM for my model), what will happen? Will it damage something on board? Or will it make the system unstable?

Thanks.
