Hi,

I have changed my gpu to gtx780 and psu to cooler master b700 about 2 years ago. I haven't played any game for a long time. I tried to play arma 3, total war etc. yesterday but i have a black screen issue. After about 15-20 min (arma 3 doesn't even launch) black screen comes.( i can still hear the game).

I opened the case and saw an amber light which is under "aux-pwr". It doesn't blink, solid. What does it mean? Do i have to change the psu?

Thanks.

Does windows 10 cause blue screen crash?

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently from windows 8.1 on my Dell Inspirion 660 desktop which is 3 years old.  My hard drive crashed...I woke up to the blue screen of death after a couple of months.  The hard drive had to be replaced.  Did Windows 10 cause that?   I am debating upgrading again because I liked Windows 10 so much more than 8 but do not want to crash again.  Advice?

Replacing power supply for Dell Inspiron 430S

I am trying to replace the power supply on the 530S. In order to do so, I need to remove the cd drive to have access to the P1 connector. I have removed the computer cover and the bezel, as well as everything attached to the cd drive. But, the drive will not slide out as described in the manual. I do not see any screws or anything holding the drive in place. When I press the clip on the side of the case to release the drive, it slides out about 1/2 inch. That is the maximum that it slides out. I could really use some help in removing this drive. Thanks!

XPS 2710 POST Issue

Hello everyone. I have a Dell XPS 2710 AIO. I've just installed Window 10 again and removed everything as my computer was running slower. After the installation, I shut it down and tried starting it again. This time it would not clear POST and did not reach the Dell boot screen. It was In a reboot loop. I left it overnight and this morning it started first time but if I switch it off and restart then I would need to leave it for a while before it will start. If the computer is put to sleep then it will come back on normally. I don't believe it's a software issue as it's a fresh install with no files or settings kept. Can someone please help me with this problem.

Thank you

I recently purchased my first desktop and set it up in-between my desk and wall. It has a back facing fan and there is about 6 inches of space from the back wall. I have only owned laptops in the past and I don't know if I need more room for the fan so my pc doesn't overheat or something else goes wrong.

Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF not recognising SSD in BIOS

$

Hey everyone,

I recently purchased two second hand Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF PCs for my grandparents with the intention of upgrading the memory in them from 4GB to 8GB and swapping out the 250GB HDD with an Intel 535 Series 250GB SSD so they both had a fairly fast/cheap PC.

When they arrived I booted them both up and they worked fine so I added the extra memory and they still plotted along fine but when I swapped out the HDDs from SSDs. Neither of the computers recognised them in the BIOS for some reason which I think was really strange. Though if I plug the HDD back in it works fine. Has anyone came across a problem like this?

Here is a list of the things I have tried so far.

  • ·       Updating the BIOS to the latest version (A22)
  • ·       Reset CMOS (removing battery and RTC reset jumper switch)
  • ·       Using a different SATA Port
  • ·       Using a different SATA Cable
  • ·       Using a different SATA Power connector
  • ·        Verified the SSDs in another working PC.

OPTIPLEX NOT BOOTING

Hello,

I have an optiplex 7010 (expired warranty) which is not booting :

No leds on, No bips, and when I plug the AC Cable => Fans on my motherboard run 3 sec then they stop, few seconds after they run and 3 sec after they stop (and so on).

I have tried with no hard drive, no ram, no graphic card, the only thing that are connected are : motherboard + CPU + power supply.

When i push the check button at the bottom of the power supply, 'its' led stay on and FANS runs (until i stop to push this button)

I Hope you will have the solution :)

Thanks

Dell XPS 8900 POST failure

Recently I moved my XPS 8900's internals to a bigger case. When powering on, it appears to all work but when it gets to the dell screen, it goes black. I can press f2 or f12 for the setup menus but it never gets there. It appears to be a POST problem, with blinking power button and keyboard capslock and scroll lock LEDs. It blinks in a pattern of 3-7-1-6. I cannot seem to get it to boot. Anyone have a clue what the problem might be?

Thanks,

Colin

Adding a second drive to my Optiplex 755

I bought a refurbished Optiplex 755 a few months back which came with a floppy (really?). I decided to add a second drive so I removed the floppy and put a Seagate 750Gb drive in its place. I went into setup and enabled the drive, rebooted, went back into setup to verify that the drive was recognized which it was. BUT now every time I restart the machine I get the black screen with the following:

HDD replacement is not valid, continued use may result in long term HDD reliability issues please press F1 in you would like to continue.

It also gives me the choice of pressing F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup or F5 to run tests.

I press F1 and it boots normally.

My question is how or what do I do to eliminate this black screen? Because if I restart and leave the system sits here and waits for ever.

Thanks for your help.

After I shutdown my XPS 8500, the monitor goes off, the power and other panel lights goes off but the processor and fans keep running, and would continue for hours if I don't pull the power cord. What is causing this?  Any suggestion for a fix would be appreciated.

Thanks

Alienware x51 - Replaced faulty HDD Help Pls..

Ok, So my x51 (R1) blue screened me yesterday and I have been doing my head in trying to fix it..eventually I threw in the towel and decided to factory reset the drive - did not help.  Bought a new drive today and tried to do a clean install of win10 - I did not make a recovery disk so I used my recovery disk from my laptop (XPS-15) and now my desktop (x51) thinks its a laptop......so when i go into the settings it is showing me the CPU of my laptop and the windows product key of my laptop...this cannot be good.

In the BIOS it still shows X51 but  everything on the new HDD shows my laptop recovery info - i figured widows would detect the desktop info and adjust - clearly that has not happened.  I tried to boot from my windows 10 USB (came with my edition on win10 that I bought..) and the PC says it cant find the HDD (eventhough i am telling it to boot from USB..) - when i use my XPS15 recovery USB that works fine.

So long story short.

1. How do I do a clean install of Windows 10 on my X51? eventhough the system came system came with Win8.

2. Will the clean install of Win 10 show the proper "Alienware" stuff on my computer that used to be there before?

3. Using a Win10 USB does not work - it keeps giving me the error message that say "internal HDD not found to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive. No bootable devices" - this is when I have the win10 USB that came with a brand new version on Windows in the USB?? I dont get it...to clarify the ONLY USB it recognizes is the Recovery USB that I made for my XPS15 - its like it only recognizes other dell stuff only....very frustrating

4. How can i get my drivers for the ethernet card for my X51? My xps15 has no ethernet port port so had no need for drivers - so I assume the recovery did not install the ethernet drivers either..cant access the internet atm

5. Any other help to get my x51 working like it was would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

DELL Vostro 230 - RAM problem

Hi Folks,

I'm new here and this is my very first post. I'm unsure if this question has been posted already so apologies in advance if it has.

Basically, I have a DELL Vostro tower that currently has 1GB RAM. I bought a 2GB Crucial RAM DDR3L stick which i thought was compatible. However when i insert the RAM and swich on I get a double beep.

Can anyone please advise me what i'm doing wrong here as I really dont know what to do next.

I was thinking the problem may be that the RAM is DDR3L instead of DDR3, however i'm really not sure.

Any help from anyone would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

I am trying to turn this t3500 I have into a gaming desktop, Atm I have a x5687 xeon, 16gb of mismatched ram and a gtx 950. I want to get 12gb of identical dimms to ensure stability. From what research I have done is it true that I can't use registered ECC or high density ECC/NECC ram? How exactly can I tell between low and high density with modern ram? I want to use this kit here : But it looks like this is high density ram as is most of modern ram.
